The wedding invitation is one of the most important parts of your big day. It's your first chance to attract guests and get them excited about joining you in celebration. That's why it's so important that your wedding invitation is well-designed and includes all the information guests need to make an informed decision about whether or not they can attend. Names - Don't Forget Them The bride's name goes first, followed by her husband-to-be's name. If you include your parents' names on the invitation, they'll be listed below those of your future in-laws. The Location If you're having a destination wedding, you'll need to include the name of your venue. But even if you're planning on getting married in a city or town that is familiar to most people, it's still important to include this information in your invitation. You want guests who don't live in close proximity to be able to make arrangements ahead of time so they have time to plan out travel logistics and accommodations once they get there (if necessary). The Date and Time You'll want to make sure that the time of day is included on your invitation, not just the date. If people are travelling to your wedding from outside of Ireland, you should also put the time zone on the invitation. The Dress Code A few examples of dress codes include: Black Tie Optional Cocktail Attire (Cocktail Dresses and Suits) Black Tie Preferred (Black Tuxedos with White Shirts and Black Bowties for Men, and Dresses Appropriate for Formal Events for Women) Casual The Wedding Website You can do this in one of two ways: either include a link to your wedding website or put the address on the invitation itself. You can also include links to other sites that may be helpful, such as your registry (if you're doing one) and social media pages if you want people to be able to follow you there. RSVP Information
Your wedding invitation should include a response card or box so that guests know how to respond. You may want to include a deadline for responding, too, especially if you're counting on an accurate guest count. With so many details to remember and so much planning to accomplish, it can be easy for the little things to fall by the wayside. But don't forget about the importance of your wedding invitations! They're one of the first things guests will expect leading up to your wedding, and they'll want something that not only looks great but also conveys all of this important information clearly. So take some time now to make sure you get it right; then sit back and enjoy all the other fun parts about wedding planning!
