How to Have a Backyard Wedding in Ireland
2023 is here, and so many new couples have recently gotten engaged, and many of us are dreaming of wedding season.
If you want to tie the knot outdoors, consider hosting your wedding in the backyard under a tree or on a deck that overlooks your garden. But before you go ahead and book that venue, there are some things to consider first: Is it too hot? Too cold? What if it rains? Here's how to plan for all kinds of weather, so your big day goes off without a hitch.
Plan for the Irish Weather
You should always check the weather forecast for the weekend of your wedding, but it's imperative if you're planning to hold your ceremony outdoors. You don't want to have a beautiful outdoor wedding only to get rained on right before the ceremony starts!
If you do end up getting rained on, have an indoor backup plan ready, just in case. If possible, try finding an outdoor location that offers shelter from the rain, like an arbor or gazebo, so that guests can still enjoy themselves without getting wet.
Consider Your Guests Comfort
If you're having a small wedding, this might not be an issue. But if you're entertaining more than 100 guests, make sure that everyone has a place to sit down and relax. Think about how hot it may get in the middle of summer—and consider how much shade is available for those who need it. And make sure there are enough bathrooms so your guests won't have to wait in line or walk too far away from the event itself.
Making Your Reception Fun
This is a time to celebrate the union of two people, so it's important to think about how you want your wedding day to feel. Do you want an elegant sit-down dinner? Or would a fun cocktail party be better? Do you want a small gathering or something more grandiose?
Think about what style will work best for the space in your backyard, as well as how many people are coming. Once these questions are answered, then comes the fun part: decorating!
Have a Backup Plan
If the weather is bad, or if the reception is not going as planned, you want to be prepared for what to do next. You can't always control nature, but it's helpful to know how many people are coming so that you can make sure there's enough food and drinks for everyone.
Wedding planning can be stressful, and it's easy to get caught up in the details. But if you keep these tips in mind, you'll be able to plan a wedding that's fun for everyone. The most important thing is to remember that your guests are coming for the party—not just the ceremony!
