How to Incorporate Your Kids into Your Wedding
It is becoming more and more common for couples to have children at their wedding. While some people may be hesitant, this isn't a new trend, and it shouldn't be seen as such. Couples want to include their kids in their wedding day because they are a big part of family life and belong with the couple on this special day.
But if you're worried about including kids in your plans, don't be! There are lots of ways that children can be incorporated into your nuptials without being disruptive or causing chaos for everyone involved. In fact, having little ones on hand can make things even more fun—and here are some ideas on how to incorporate them into all aspects of the ceremony and reception:
Invite Your Kids to be Part of the Wedding Party
Invite your kids to be part of the wedding party. They can take on the following roles:
Maid of honour
Have Them Walk You Down the Aisle
You can have your children walk you down the aisle. This will make them feel like an important part of the ceremony and make all their friends jealous when they see that they get to do something special! If you are planning on doing this, make sure your wedding vendors, like your wedding videographer and photographer, know ahead of time to capture this sweet moment.
Let Them Stand With Your During Your Vows
Instead of having your kids hidden away at the back of the room, let them stand up with you during your vows. Your children can hold your rings, flowers, or bouquet as you exchange them with your spouse-to-be. They can also help hold up the officiant's bible when he says, "Do you take this man/woman...?"
This will give everyone a chance to see how cute and supportive your children are. Plus, it makes for a great photo or videography opportunity!
Including Your Kids at Your Wedding Will Mean the World to Them
From the moment you get engaged, there's a lot of pressure to plan your wedding. You're probably thinking about where and when it will take place, who should be invited and how much money you'll need to spend on it. But what about the little people? Don't they deserve some consideration too? When they look back at the day their new family was formed, they will be happy they got to play a significant role in the festivities.
